Talk about the magazines you love

Have a passion for architecture, fitness or tinkering with cars? If you do, then you may also enjoy flipping through the glossy pages of a magazine devoted to your interest. Magazines have always played a central role in our visual culture. A unique format, they represent a medium that combines a number of essential elements - portabliity, tactility, repetitiveness and a combination of text and images. Today, there are more magazines than ever available, and more continue to be launched. Here at centrespread we only focus on consumer magazines (the ones you buy in your local shop & the new wave of digital magazines popping up everywhere). There are almost 3,000 titles in the UK alone. The aim of the site is to be a central place where we can share our opinions on recent issues, the content, the advertisements that appear and our overall impression of that issue. It will be a great place to share comments with fellow readers that share the same interests. Now you can share your comments with them.

The idea behind centrespread

One day a good friend of mine said “Did you read the article in Esquire about the Harley Davidsons? Only a week earlier I purchased that issue at Schipol airport, Amsterdam. We then went on to talk about that article. Since then we have both been reading Esquire every month and, yes, we still share our comments on various articles and features.

It then struck me that there was nothing online that could link up magazine readers that share similar interests. centrespread was founded in 2007.

We will be adding new features over the coming months and rely on feedback from the centrespread community to give us new ideas.
